Microsoft is developing multiple new features for Outlook users on various mobile platforms, such as Android and iOS. The company is working on vernacular voice compose, video unfurl and playback, and the ability to capture video from a phone and upload it to email in the Outlook mobile app.
The vernacular voice compose feature is only available for India’s Outlook Lite app and Android users. This feature enables users to compose emails in nine different Indian languages using their voice and translate them before sending them. The supported languages have not been disclosed, and the feature will be released next month. The Microsoft 365 Roadmap page lists this feature with a feature ID of 125288.
Outlook users on mobile platforms will be able to preview videos by tapping on a video link and then play them in full-screen mode using the in-app player on Android and iOS devices. This feature is expected to be released this month and has a feature ID of 125288 on the Roadmap page.
Android users will also be able to capture and upload videos from the Outlook app, which will utilize OneDrive for Business to provide increased storage space and large limits for video size and length. This feature is also set to release this month, and its functionality is listed under feature ID 117588.
It is important to note that the above-mentioned release dates are subject to change. Microsoft may delay the rollout date if it encounters any issues during the development process.
